Thank you for supporting small makers and ethically sourced products!

On all nights and days, we seek out ethically sourced cacao beans and small-batch products. Made with only 3 ingredients, our single-origin bars celebrate both the holiday, and the unique flavor of the bean.

4 varietals of dark chocolate all handcrafted in Somerville, MA, vegan/pareve, KVH-certified for Passover 2025 and all-year-round!

Why Passover?

Passover celebrates freedom and food, so it never made sense to me why there wasn’t more ethically sourced single-origin chocolate on the market. Like Moses at the burning bush, I wondered ‘who am I’ to go and make that which was not coming to pass. After many experiments and more than a year of planning, I’m excited to be able to share the joy of delicious single-origin chocolate all year-round.

Why 4 Origins?

The number four resonates across many ideas and rituals related to the holiday: freedoms, promises, children, cups, and of course questions. The idea of the four directions also comes up, and what better way to connect to the spirit of the holiday than offer origins from four continents!?

How did you choose these beans?

As my papa would say, ‘better lucky than smart.’ The Ivory Coast beans come from a farmers’ coop that I connected to via a friend of a friend’s mom. I’m proud to be their first US-based direct importer, getting beans nearly direct from the source. The other 3 origins were purchased through a transparent trade supplier that sourced beans that highlight the diversity of flavors across geographies & varietals. I love the balance of the acidity, fragrance, and sweetness across all 4 origins, and hope you do too!

Because we only use 3 ingredients without additives, you might find the taste is earthier or brighter than the dark chocolate you are used to.

How best to enjoy?

That’s totally up to you! At some moments in life, I love to share chocolate with others, discussing the flavor profile and connecting over a communal experience. Sometimes, I prefer to pause over a coffee and savor time to myself. However you enjoy, I hope this chocolate improves your day, allows you a moment to consider the bounty the earth offers us, and connects you to a broader world of chocolate lovers.

All the best for a kosher & sweet holiday,

Sarah Shapiro
